Voltmeter |
|
A meter that measures Voltage.
|

Voltage |
|
A force applied to a conductor that makes current flow, measured in Volts and given the symbol V.
|

Resistance |
|
How much opposition to the flow of electrons there is in a circuit, measured in Ohms and given the symbol R.

Power |
|
The rate at which work is done, measured in Watts and given the symbol W.

|
The electrical part of the Building Regulations.

Ohmmeter |
|
A meter that measures Resistance.
|

Insulator |
|
A material that does not allow electrons to flow through it easily, i.e. the PVC covering on conductors.

Fuse |
|
A fuse has a current rating, if the current flowing in the circuit exceeds this rated value the fuse will open circuit, or “blow” stopping the current from flowing in the circuit.

DC Direct Current |
|
Current that only travels in one direction

Current |
|
The flow of electrons round a circuit, measured in Amperes or Amps and given the symbol I.
